Time is getting closer to the next Ice Season. Preparations are under way to get the Rentals ready. We are working on prepping, improving, cleaning and all that goes along with the rentals. We are building some new ones too.

Some of the permanent customers have come up to check and get their houses ready for the winter season, but there are alot  of customers that need to get up here and check their houses out.  For those that have Direct Vent furnaces, (Empire and others), I have found a  business that will check them out if you want to have your heating system ready.  Call us and we will get you their contact number.  They will only service them in the next month, (November), not on the ice.

There has been a lot of rumors floating around up here because I’m retiring  and selling my Marine Business, (Lybacks Marine), and that I am also doing the same thing in the Ice Fishing business.  I’m telling all of those people right now that is NOT happening.  They will have to pry me out of my Lake Truck before that happens.  I was born one year after my Father, (Clark Lyback) started this place and grew up with it.  I will not retire from it despite how many people think I will.  This Ice Business will continue, (going on our 69th year). And the future of it is secure, with or without me…  I’m planning for the future despite my age I guess.  (They say living on the Ice is short lived and I’ve seen many come and go, but that’s not going to be the case for a business that has survived longer than most.)  There’s a reason for that…

This year we finished a new office  with ADA bathrooms/showers. (In a 100 plus year old restored barn built by my Grandfather, you will be impressed when you see it).  Expanded our fleet of trucks, built new V- plows, (that I designed years ago that many copied) that really work, and have adapted to the influx of wheelhouses to provide for them, along with our permanent customers and rentals to do something that works.  Our focus on wheelhouses is to NOT ” overcrowd” and just take fees to make money .  Our goal here is to not to interfere with those out there actually fishing. We encourage fishermen to show up to get on the ice early like most believe it should be to preserve the quality of it.  For that reason we are different than other businesses and I am proud of that. To see what has happened over the last few years out there with other ice businesses has proved it to me that what they allow to happen is not going to be good for the sport, and the resource….  and I’m not going there.

Keep a Tight Line.
