Woke up this a.m. to a skating rink out in front of us on the lake. I’s been a long time since I’ve seen it freeze that smooth, and I’m sure it won’t stay that way. We are plugging along getting equipment ready and making some new changes to the rentals. Basically taken advantage of every “nice” weather day we are having. I really hope this weather pattern breaks soon, I’m anxious to get going…..Eddy
After yesterday and last night it looks like we are going backwards in the ice making dept. for the next few days Good time to go to the St.Paul Ice Fishing show and see all the new stuff and “old” stuff pertaining to Ice Fishing. This year Clam Corp is putting on a display of ice fishing then to now. Last Saturday some of my friends at Clam came up and we went thru some of the “old” Ice Fishing things we had here and loaded them up in the trailer for the booth. If your in the cities this weekend you might want to go check it out. There is some pretty neat things to look at. ( I can’t believe I used to use some of that stuff!!) Until then….Keep a tight line!
Ice formed on the main lake in front of us overnight, but it’s not going to stay. With the warmer weather coming over the next few days things are going to stay in limbo for awhile. It’s a good time for all the private owners to get up here and do the last minute changes/fixes to their houses over this next weekend. Keep the A/C on!! Eddy
Woke up this a.m. to seeing ice forming on the main lake. The cold temps and wind is really chilling the water down now. Future weather forecast for the rest of the week isn’t looking too good for ice making, but when the cold does return it should go quick.
With ice on the bays and smaller lakes in the area, please use extreme caution and think twice about before trying to walk on it. We’ll have plenty of time to get out there and enjoy it when it’s safer.
Keep a tight line.
Well here we go again! This weekend numerous customers were up after Thanksgiving dinners and checked out their houses and made last minute changes, etc. Some of the workers will be starting Monday to go thru the trucks, get them ready for the ice and do some finish work on the rentals. We also are going to be redesigning a couple bridges and making them easier to work with.
So far there is minimal ice in some of the bays, nothing to even think about walking on yet, and the main lake is wide open as you can see by the webcam. With the weather forecast, I think it’s going to be awhile before we see ice, unfortunately…
I’m sure that most of you that are interested in Mille Lacs know by now what’s been in the news. Talk about lower numbers in the test nets, etc. Yes, I agree there are some big changes happening out there in the lake. but right now I don’t even know if the DNR Fisheries really know exactly what’s going on yet either. One thing I know is the Zebra Mussels have been affecting the water clarity in a big way and I’m sure that affected some of the test results. But there is something changing out there and the State of Minnesota needs to take a stand for the well-being of Mille Lacs Lake and it’s citizens for once and for all.
We have some snow on the ground so it looks like things should get going soon, keep checking on the webcam and I’ll keep “bloggin”!!
Keep a tight line!
