Yesterday was my last trip out on the ice for the 21-22 season. Richard and I went out on snowmobiles pulling sleds and ran thru the areas we go to one more time to pick up anything that was missed or buried by the snow. (Blocks, any garbage, etc.). We picked up very little, which was a good thing. That meant that the guys did a good job when removing houses and the fishermen did well making sure there areas they fished were clean before they left. It’s nice to see.
We checked ice before we went and along the way in spots just to see how much was left. On the main roads there was 30-36″ of ice and off the roads in open areas about 24″. All of it was “honeycombed” but more than enough to run on. The shoreline ice had not pulled away and the very shallow reefs still had ice over the rocks. So it will be awhile before we see open water I’m thinking…..
The barn/office/showers is coming along a little more this week. The epoxy floors are in and FRP board going up in the bathrooms and what will be our kitchen. I picked up the tables yesterday so the next rip will be to get the stainless corner sink and 20 stools for the tables and counter. This week we are starting on the upstairs flooring. Lots to do but I can see the end now.
I’m going to try and update the report once a week on Sundays as we go thru the summer. We’ll see how it goes…..
Happy Easter!
