This morning it was cold and the barometer was up there.  Fishermen coming off the lake from overnight had Walleye action, but also  said the ice was making noise with the lack of snow cover.

That is changing.  We are going to get some snow tomorrow and late in the week and warmer temps. Which should help the ice and the bite.  Some fishermen did pretty good with keepable Perch today too.  Which was nice to see.

We still have some rentals open for the weekend and with the weather changing the fishing should be pretty good.  Give Cindy a call in the office and she can tell you what is open.

Feburary 1st, 2015

After the weekend fishing was I would say “fair” for most.  Most everyone caught Walleyes and there were a lot caught and released that were 22″ to 29″ inches amongst the anglers. Some big Pike also.  Perch activity was poor with mostly too small ones caught.

We went from pretty good size cracks to having them slam shut when it warmed up Saturday, then open up again Sunday. But with the ice thickness at 25″ plus it wasn’t a major problem.

This week I’m going to make some moves with the rentals as there was a lot of activity in shallower water, especially at night.  Most “keeper” Walleyes that were caught were in there. And with the timing of the season and warmer weather and maybe some snow (?) it might work.

Early morning Friday the cold got to the ice and in a couple areas there were cracks as wide as 16 inches.  With 25 inches of ice it wasn’t too much of a problem. We put ramps across them and pack the spots on the roads with snow and by evening things were looking pretty good. With no snow on the ice it’s bound to happen.

Fishing was on the quiet side as not many fishermen out there and by afternoon people were arriving for the weekend so they were just getting started, With the cold the barometer shot up and it showed.

For those that want to know about the Lybacks/TWP Contest on Feb. 21st.  The entry fee per person is $50.00.  (Has been for 2 years).  Contest start time is 7:00am. Weigh station is open at 2:00pm.  Contest will end at 4:00 pm. (Has been 5:00pm in the past, but I wanted to change it so prizes could be distributed before it got too late in the evening).
