December 13th, 2020

This morning I worked on making the approach to the lake.  This year is was pretty easy as there were no big piles along the shoreline like it usually is.  The only thing lacking was the snow, (which is ok with me until we get a decent amount of ice.)

I checked right out in front about 50 feet and there was about 4″ of ice. But from watching it freeze a week or so ago there was alot of ice moving around for a few days so there is definitely areas out there pretty close that have less.  I’m going to wait until Tuesday to check out farther. With the colder temps coming in the next couple days there should be some improvement. I’ll wait to see how much then.

The ice is pretty smooth this year so far, (unless a big wind gets it moving),  But there are ridges and smooth spots where the ice was shifting around so there is going to be variation in thickness. It’s ok when there is no snow and you can see the change, but when the snow comes things won’t be so easy.

This year will be my 50th year out there, and Lybacks Ice Fishing is starting it’s 66th year in business. Cindy and I are hoping it will be a good one!
