Saturday and Sunday I spent time getting the rough ice in front smoothed out. Also spent time checking the ice farther out and marking where our future roads will be. Made it to the end of Popes, NE and NW Gull.
Ice was a pretty consistent 6″ thick. Some areas a little more, some areas a little less. Over the next couple days I’m concentrating on getting the roughest areas smoothed out while the weather is warm and easier to accomplish. By what reports I’ve seen the lake has froze over completely, but with the warmer weather the next few days alot could happen out on the main lake ice. Shifting ice and cracks are not going to freeze much so we will be cautious on what we are doing until it cools down.
Right now my plan is to open our access on Thursday for ATV/portable traffic, and run like that thru the weekend. There will be plenty of parking available for wheelhouse campers with portables and others. For now we will be using the Red House by the lake for our office like we have always in the past. We will be opening the new office/bathrooms/showers as the winter progresses.
Keep a Tight Line!
