Saturday quite a few anglers showed up and went out. Most didn’t show go out until mid morning. Most came off right after dark and what reports I heard were mixed. There seemed to be more small Walleye caught, (12-18″), alot of small Perch depending where you were. I received pictures of some “Keeper” Walleye, but no “big” ones were reported. This evening I will be posting some of the pictures sent in on our Facebook page, (Lybacks Ice Fishing). Facebook is ok for pictures, but my ice and fishing reports will stay here on our website.
The NW wind kept things a little cooler out there than Friday. Ice depths increased on the average to about 9″ inches. We did a little more investigating of the rougher ice areas as the water around piles that were sinking was freezing up. There is alot of “layered” ice in some areas. 6-8″ slabs are laying on top of the ice where it slid when the strong winds pushed it. Fortunately there is areas where we can run through to get out farther, but it’s going to be a little different out there this year. We will just have to deal with it. And we are also fortunate that we have some much area in closer that is not affected.
We will still be running portable, ATV, snowmobile and now Side by Sides for most of this coming week until we get some more ice. With this colder weather and not much snow in the forecast I’m hoping to see 10-12″ out there by the weekend.
A very nice tackle bag with alot of tackle trays and fishing equipment was found yesterday morning by a fishermen and turned in to our office. Im thinking it was lost Friday evening when they came in off the lake. If the owner reads this, give us a call and describe the color and name of it and we will save it for you.
Keep a Tight Line! Eddy
