December 1st, 2020

It looked like for awhile the ice making process was starting just after Thanksgiving. But the warmer days have pretty much ended that for now on the main lake.  The next 10 days or so it looks like we are not going to be making much either. So the early ice thing this year is not in the books.  In some ways I think its better this way, (compared with last year when we got very early ice, a warm-up and then heavy snow). It actually set us back until the second week of January before we got going. maybe this year when the cold finally comes, it will stay.

In the meantime, we have been changing a few things with the rentals. installing larger solar panels on some, doubling up on some of the others. This year all the deluxe houses will be generator compatible for those that need it for CPAPS, battery chargers for phones, electronics  or any other A/C things they want to bring. You will still need to bring your own generator and cord.  There will be a separate plug in outside leading to a 20 amp power strip over each counter for easy access.  All lighting will be done by solar panels and storage batteries so the gas lights will not be needed unless an emergency.

Until the Covid restrictions ease, we will not be “switching over” the basic houses on 12 hour shifts this year. Call for more info on that if interested. It’s easier to explain. We have a good way to disinfect all of our rentals so I’m not worried about that. But it takes time between use to achieve it.   It’s still going to be the renters responsibility to decide who they are going with.

Also our office capacity will be restricted to one person per rental group, wheelhouse or private house owner at a time. (I mean one customer in the office at a time.) Other will need to wait outside and take their turn.  Masks will be required by whoever comes in.  I’m considering setting up a our TWP Tournament wheelhouse, (with a sliding window) to use for Friday, Saturday, Sunday business as a temporary office to keep all customers outside, but still not sure about that yet. I’m expecting  Governor Walz to extend restrictions over Christmas, but who knows for sure these days.

Hope this is over sooner than later.
