Merry Christmas!  I was out on the ice this morning and checked snow conditions.  Once you get out 100 yards from shore the snow thins out and it’s actually pretty good going.  I did not check ice depths, was just looking at drifts, slush, etc.
We had 7″9″ on ice Friday morning before the storm, so with this cold weather the last couple day I wouldn’t be surprised to see 8″ to 11″ but for now I want to work on that first 100 yards.

We will open tomorrow morning at 7:00 am. for portable traffic with snowmobiles, ATV’s with tracks, and ATV’s with chains, but those with chains might have a tough time the first 100 yards. There is slush under the deeper drifts.   My opinion, if you have a snowmobile or ATV with tracks, bring it. It’s the best way to go.  I have a large parking lot along our driveway to park in, I left snow on the driveway to make it easier to pull portables.  Those that want to camp in a wheelhouse overnight are welcome.  It just the same as access for the day.  I require that everyone picks up the stuff on the ice and back in the lot.  I won’t tolerate garbage left anywhere out there.

I have stakes to to Pope’s, Rays Reef, Graveyard. Gull, and the  middle of the Banana Reef. So there is alot of spots to try.

Merry Christmas!  Today I hit the ice  out in front with the ol’ Jeep!
