Today we will find out how the bite is out there. Fishermen will be coming up and portabling this weekend. I have stakes out to our deeper reefs where we will have roads eventually. It should be interesting to see how the bite changes now that there is some snow cover. (Hoping to provide a “fishing report” tomorrow…)
As soon as the slush freezes in the first 50 yards or so I will be getting out and establishing some roads and getting some smaller houses out during the week. Hoping the snow holds off for awhile so we can make some more ice. Snowmobiles and ATV’s with tracks are the way to travel now. If we didn’t have the deeper snow in the first 100 yards a wheeler with chains would be ok, but until I get a road thru it it will be tough going for them.
After the winds we had over Christmas and cold I would think that the lake has locked up, but regardless of where you decide to go, check with the resort that provides access first and find out what their conditions are out in front of them. There is alot of variation in the ice this year.
Keep a Tight Line! Be Safe!
