I’m writing this post on the eve of the 27th so you get an idea what I’ve done today and what I’m hoping to do tomorrow. We ended up getting 10-12″ of snow on the level and this afternoon it was very windy from the west so I stayed off the lake and worked on the parking area and driveway to office by the lake. I went down in front with the blower and cleared drifting snow from the approach.
Tuesday it is forecasted for us to get another 2-5″ of snow. After seeing today what is out there if we get another 5″ the ice could be enough to cause some big problems. Even if it doesn’t the freezing of the ice down to a crawl. It could very well be just one of those years. Not that I want to see one, but with thin ice going into January and “if” a big storm comes later it would not be good..
Tomorrow we will remain closed for access. I’m going to run the roads I have already established with snowmobile, check for any problems, (cracks, etc) and if OK and we don’t get too much snow and wind to screw up plowing, get out there an open up what I can for the cold weather coming after tomorrows snow. The goal is to get the ice going on the roads. After that we’ll go from there. One thing I’ve learned from 50 years out there is you need a road. or your just going to portable fish.. and if you don’t do it right the first time going out with conditions like we have now you make it harder for your business and customers for the rest of the season..
Keep a Tight Line! Eddy
