Yesterday we had about 15 groups of anglers out and most did not report on the catch, or (lack of), (or they did pretty good and didn’t want to let me know as I would report it) when they came off the lake. I put my cell number on each map so they can text me on how they did. I.did receive a couple pictures of over the slot C/R Walleye so there obviously was some activity.
I opened up the road to Pope’s and Ray’s Reefs, and Tullibee Road as far as NW Gull yesterday. Ice depths still vary from 9″ to 11″ inches and some spots with no snow 12″. Last night we received approx 5″ of fluff snow and this morning the NW wind is just starting. It’s forecast to pick up thru the morning to about 20 mph with some higher gusts, and then die later in the afternoon and evening. So today not much is going to happen out there. I won’t be opening up what roads I have until its dies down.
The timing of this snow is unfortunate as with the warmer temperature that are forecast over the the weekend and into next week. It is pretty much going to stop the ice making process until we get some really cold weather. The only thing I can do is keep working on roads and uncovering ice so at least we gain some ice there. Portable fishermen, after this snow it will be time to switch to snowmobiles, or ATV’s with tracks. Wheelers will not cut it out there off the roads anymore after today.
Keep a Tight Line!
