Tuesday fishermen had mixed reports.  Got a couple pictures of 25-plus” Walleye, Heard of a few “keepers”,  but most were reported in the 17-19″ range.

After watching numerous weather forecasts I’ve decided to hold off on pulling any more houses until after this storm on Friday/Saturday. Most are predicting from 8-12″ of snow,  The amount of snow wouldn’t be such an issue, but the wind forecast will make it so.  Starting with southeast winds 10-20, gusting to 30 and then switching to the N/NW 10-20 and gusting to 35mph like forecast will be the problem.  That amount of wind will make some big drifts which will cause flooding plus the high winds will make the visibility to even get out there next to impossible.  In fact if it does get that bad we will shut down until the winds drop.

Rental customers that have reservations will be called tomorrow if we are going to cancel or not. Renters coming Friday if they get here early enough might have the option to stay out thru it.  But I will determine that when the forecast gets more specific.

Today we will blocking up houses that are out there already higher in prep for it.  Yesterday when we staked the roads and measured ice depth on them we found and average of 16-18″, which is pretty good.  Out away from the roads where is was not plowed it averaged 13-15″.   In closer on the “flooded” ice, (south of a line from Popes, Gull, Spider Island) the ice depths average  18″.   13-15″ of ice doesn’t hold alot of weight very well.

Keep a Tight Line!      Eddy
