January 18th, 2020

Overnight we received about 6-8″ of snow.  The SE wind had died and we were in between the wind switch we went out and checked on the weekend rental guys.  Fishing reports were mixed, but over all a pretty slow bite.

The wind switched NW and it has been blowing and drifting since 11:00 am.  Sounds like the winds will drop overnight.  Tomorrow we start reopening things up and seeing where we are going to be as far as ice conditions.  This snow was fairly heavy and there is alot of weight on the ice now.  Everything we do with permanent houses now will more than likely will need a big spot cleared to be put on.  My plan is to get as many as possible out after I reopen the roads.

From this point on we will only be letting wheelhouses customers that have houses stored here at this time on the ice.  They have paid seasonal storage and will be considered the same as permanents.  If and when things improve I will make the call to reopen for weekend wheelhouses that are not seasonal, AFTER all permanents that want to go out already here are taken care of.

The weather forecast for later this week is a “January Thaw”.  Right now I don’t know if that will be good or bad. But I do know that in the past after one, before it turns cold again we usually got a snowstorm.  It would really be nice if I’m wrong…   🙂

Keep a Tight Line!   Eddy
