The slowest couple days of the year for the bite I’ve seen this year so far. During the winds we had starting Thursday the bite had really slowed. Yesterday during the rounds of rentals those with cameras were seeing Walleye, but they were not too interested. Portable anglers that were moving around picked up one here and there. Last evening I started receiving pictures and reports of the bite picking up for some. So I’m thinking today and overnight with the 1-3″ of snow we are supposed to receive, they will start catching fish.
Our ice conditions are improving slowly, the last couple nights really helped the roads. Most are in the 18″ range. But out in the snow off the roads we are still finding 13-14″ in many areas. That amount of ice for this time of year is pretty thin for this time of year. If we get a big snow storm there could be problems with flooding. Lets all hope not. We have no pressure ridges and no major cracks to deal with this year which is a welcome relief. Normally there is always something, but with the late freeze and all the ice movement on the lake this year our corner got a chance to lock up and stay put. Lets all hope we get some cold weather soon, we all need it out there.
I want to thank all that went out yesterday for keeping the speeds way down on the ice roads, especially those pulling wheelhouses, It makes everyone more comfortable.
Have a safe weekend and give everyone their space!
Keep a Tight Line! Eddy
