Yesterday the bite for the most part was pretty quiet for most. Lots of small Perch action, some Walleyes. But much more spotty and random. There were some nice catches for some, but compared to most what it has been I would say it was slow which can happen when we have such ups and down in weather changes like we’ve had. Even still, some of those that worked for them did quite well. I’ll find out today for sure when fishermen check out on their way home. Looking out the next 7 days the weather, so far, looks fairly stable. That should help the bite some.
All the roads faired well with the winds and little snow we had. There will be some clean up in driveways and wheelhouse spots, but with another bit of snow coming tonight we will be waiting for the clean-up until after. We will be moving alot of the rentals this week and setting up in new areas so it will be a busy week.
The good news of the weekend for me was that “finally” the plumbing permit problems with the state and county for the new barn/office might be over. They are coming Tuesday to inspect and if all goes well there will be a big push to finish the bathrooms and showers and get it up and running before the end of the season. It will have Men’s and Women’s handicapped accessible bathrooms with showers. Seating for up to 20 people with a counter area that will have coffee, rolls, Heggies Pizza, etc. if you have to wait for a shower. And most importantly, the new ice fishing office. On the walls will be photos of the 67 year history of this place on the ice. All in the downstairs of the barn my Grandfather built when he homesteaded here over 100 years ago. It’s been a dream of mine that will finally come to fruition..
Keep a Tight Line! Eddy
