Saturday and Saturday afternoon into evening the Walleye bite picked up for alot of anglers out there. I started receiving texts with pictures about lunchtime and it didn’t quit until after 8:0o pm. Many reports of Walleyes being caught. After over 48 hours of quiet it was bound to happen and the weather change I’m sure helped.
We received an inch or two of snow some south wind, but it calmed after late evening. Today we will cleaning up the roads a little just to keep fishermen from driving towards the road banks when they come off the ice. Many of the plowed snow banks on the roads, (which we plow only to one side), sank because of the weight of the snow during the last couple warm days we had. they are not froze enough to drive on/or drive over where it flooded and froze yet. And to attempt it or accidently get too close could end up being a big problem. A few days of cold and by next weekend you won’t even know it happened.
The ice roads held up very good thanks to all driving slowly, a special thank you to the wheelhouse guys, they make a big difference on what happens to them. Driving slow does help.
If all goes well this week with weather our ice roads will be thick enough in my opinion to let all go. Just keep in mind there are alot of areas where there is only 12-14 inches of ice off the roads and for some rigs that is not enough in my opinion, but most is getting closer to 14-15 inches and with no snow and more cold it will make a little more by then. Still for this time of year we are way down in the ice thickness we should normally have.
Remember the weekend wheelhouse list starts Tuesday @ 7:00am
Keep a Tight Line and give everyone their space! Eddy
