Yesterday the fishing was mixed, most all caught Walleye but no great numbers. With this weather pattern it seems like the fish are in the “doldrums ” too.  The change of weather coming over the weekend will get them going I hope. It’s not that they are not there.

We are allowing up to 50 weekend wheelhouses out of our access this weekend.  Due to a small pressure ridge we are dealing with on both main roads I am limiting it to 3/4 ton trucks with tandem axle houses.  No 1 tons or diesels with wheelhouses.  Plus I do not want  so many out there so the ice road stays in good shape for all. Plus everyone gets to fish without crowding others.  Pushing things to the limit and beyond with amounts of traffic only jeopardizes everyone. Plus with the warm up coming for over the weekend cracks don’t heal as well and we will be encouraging everyone to drive below 10 mph to help protect the roads. Every wheelhouse going out of here, (both seasonal paid customers and those that called and reserved a spot on the list). You will need to be here and on the ice before dark as we will not allow access after.  There is a few spots left on the list as of last evening so give us a call this morning if you would like to save a spot.

It was very disappointing to hear yesterday that the anglers portion of the  “safe harvest” (150,000 lbs) will only be the same amount as last year at only 87,000 lbs.  That means there more than likely be a shutdown again this season at some point. This is all the result of “Treaty Management”.  Or mis-management in my opinion.  The only way it will stop now is who you vote for next election.  With our current administration in Minnesota bending over for the Bands what do you expect.   It’s all about the money and power now, and the anglers of Minnesota are being treated like a school of suckers….     🙁

Keep a Tight Line!    Eddy
