Yesterday there were only 6 groups of anglers out. Most reports were that is was pretty slow bite, but alot of fish seen and marked. At the least they are there. A few reports C/R up to ten Walleye and a couple in the slot were reported.
I worked more on roads to fishing areas with the Land Cruiser. Almost all the ice I checked before plowing was 11″-12″. With 3″-6″ of snow on the ice and random drifts 12″ deep it is minimal ice at the least with this warm weather we are having. It is freezing some at night but only on the roads. Under the snow it is not making much at all unfortunately. This coming week it looks like temps will get closer to “normal” and if the snow stays away we will slowly get started.
Starting Wednesday we will be letting small cars, mini-SUVs, and similar vehicles out to rentals, privates, and for portable fishing. NO 1/2 ton rated trucks. Single axle wheelhouses pulled with ATV, or side by sides can go too. I will be pulling lighter houses out on the list with the Land Cruiser. Others will need to stay in their house on shore and portable until we have more ice. I do not foresee the heavier houses going out until next week but I will be checking ice daily. I’m not going to put alot of weight on the roads until there is more ice. After all the effort I have put into the roads I’m not going to break them up with excess weight and traffic.
Keep a Tight Line! Eddy
