March 20th, 2022

Today will be the last day we will have our access open for the season.  It’s starting to get soft on top in the afternoons and the access is starting to erode,  Frost is just starting to go out on the driveway and with the rain/snow coming this week it’s not worth it.

The fishing activity for Tullibee and Perch was slow with lots of small Perch and the fishermen looking for Tullibee yesterday had little or no luck at all.  The anglers that targeted Northern Pike had the action.    A 42.5″ – 25lb Northern was caught and released right out in front of our place less than a 1/4 out.  (Picture is on the  Lybacks Ice Fishing Facebook page).

I’m going to keep working on finishing the “barn” so we all will have a new office/bathrooms with showers for next year. This week we are putting epoxy coating on the floors, after that install the fixtures, finish some trim and seal the log ceiling.  Then it upstairs to install flooring, deck on the north side and a coat of paint on the outside walls.   My daughter Andrea is getting married on June 18th and it will be ready for that!

I want to thank all of you that came out of our place this past season.  You all are the reason this place exists and keeps going.  I grew up at this place and have lived here all my life, Every winter there was the excitement of getting out there, getting houses out for customers, plowing that first road, and many other things.  Seeing my Dad and Mom start and run the business on their own and getting by the best they could because they didn’t want to live anywhere else instilled something in me I guess.  It’s alot of hard work at times and long hours and it takes a toll  on you after awhile.  But at the end of the season you end up wishing it wasn’t over.  As long as I still feel that way I guess I’m still OK…       😉

Keep a Tight LIne!
