Ice is looking better than I thought after being out there this a.m.  We have 5-7 inches of ice and so far we have roads staked to Pope’s, Gull, Ray’s and the Graveyard reefs.  This afternoon we are headed to the Banana, Tundra and East Bar and as long as we don’t encounter any thin ice, roads will be staked out to them by dark.

We will be allowing ATV’s and snowmobiles with portables thru the weekend.  Sorry no wheelhouses with ATV’s until I see 8 inches, which probably won’t be until Sunday, Monday.  If you want to we have plenty of room for parking of wheelhouses and you are welcome to camp out overnite if you wish  N/C  and portable during the day.  Only access fee will apply.  I’m hoping this weather continues. We might get a  Christmas Week yet!

The cold weather has arrived!!   Ice tomorrow in our areas will be 5-6 inches.  Here we go…. We will be checking more ice and areas tomorrow but we will be getting started in close and by the end of the day we’ll have lots of fishing areas checked for ice depth and safe travel .  By Saturday we should be well under way for most portable people.  Parking is set up and we’re ready!!!  Now let’s see if the fish bite!!

Today I went ice checking again and with the way it looks with us not getting any snow and cold coming tomorrow….  On the main lake in most of the areas we start out in there will be 5-6 inches of ice by Friday-Saturday.  Enough for walking and in some areas ATV travel.  We are planning on letting fishermen go out of here starting Friday morning so the weekend looks like the start of things for us.  We still have a long way to go but at least we are getting started.  If the cold weather holds and we keep the snow away for awhile I can see smaller houses going out after Christmas and the big ones going out around New Year’s.  We’ll just have to wait it out and see what happens.  For all of you portable fishermen we have a lot of parking and easy access to the lake for snowmobiles, ATV’s and pulling the sleds.   Hope to see you this weekend!!
