Yesterday I made my last trip out on the ice to cover the areas we normally go for leftover blocks, and whatever was left out there that shouldn’t be.  Due to the workers this year picking up all the blocking and chains sawing it out right away after the house was pulled off it’s spot there was hardly any blocks left, We picked up maybe 25-30 that got missed.  Not bad for over 100 houses that were out.  Garbage was also minimal with maybe a half of a garbage bag total. Again, because anything left around or under a house was removed as soon as it got pulled in. Being proactive works…  And many thanks to our ice guys for doing such a good job.

The Mille Lacs “Keep it Clean” seemed to get to the angler’s also.  There was alot less debris from portables fishermen, wheelhouse fishermen too.  The last few years that looked like it was going to become a problem, but as times are changing, so are the fishermen and everyone is coming more aware.   Let’s hope the trend continues into the open water season too.  Even though the focus has always been on the ice fishermen, open water polluting has been happening for years also.  it’s just that it disappears when it sinks….

Ice-out is still at least a couple weeks away or longer by what I seen out there for ice thickness yesterday.  This abnormally warm stretch has done alot of melting, but there is a long way to go yet.
