Over the weekend, the bite was pretty quiet for the larger Walleye. Some areas were pestered with smalls, but some slots were caught Friday night and Saturday morning.  Saturday evening and Sunday, when the cold front came through, just about everything shut off.  Some fishermen in the shallow basins had some decent Perch, and some Jumbo’s were caught. A promising sign going into the following weekend with the warm-up coming.  It will be nice to see some normal or above normal temps for the last weekend, and hopefully, the weather change will trigger the bite.

Permanents must come up and get their houses ready to be pulled after the coming weekend and settle up accts. Seasonal wheelhouses that are not stored here over the summer need to be removed next weekend.  Those who want to stay into March to try for Northern Pike and Perch or wish to store for the summer need to contact the office this week to find out where to park their houses after the coming weekend.  Our storage lot will need to open for permanent houses starting Monday morning.

We were very fortunate the last two weekends, with 4-5″ of snow on both the Friday nights before the weekend, that we did not get the high winds after like we had been getting earlier in the winter. The scenery out there would have been a lot different than it is now.  Wheelhouses that want to come up this weekend should call ahead and get on the list starting Tuesday.  I recommend having tire chains for your rig if you want to move around off the roads. Otherwise, you might want to request a plowed spot for your rig.

The Walleye bite has picked up some in the last couple of days, with the brief warm-up and barometer change. Still the best times are early morning until daybreak and the late afternoon until dusk.Keeper Perch are starting to be caught in shallower basins, but still no sign of larger Perch in the Tullibee Hole yet. That time is coming I’m sure,

Friday evening we recieved another 4″ of snow and we were fortunate that we haven’t recieved and strong winds. Sunday it is supposed to pick up to 15mph from the WNW, so there might be some drifting. We plowed all the roads today so that should minimize that.

Wheelhouses in most cases if they don’t have chains will most likely need a plowed spot from here on out.  Call to get on the list before arriving and we can have one ready for you. Permanets will need get up here and get their houses ready next weekend so they can be pulled to shore and settle their bill for services.

I will be keeping roads open for Tullibee, Perch and Northern Pike after next weekend for as long as the weather permits and enough customers make it worth while.

Keep a Tight Line!

We moved some more rentals to some new shallow water spots over the last two days. The Walleye are increasingly showing up there in the late afternoon/early evening and during daybreak hours.  During the day, some nicer-sized perch also appear in the catch.  Some of our longtime wheelhouse customers were out this week in the Gravel Bars we go to and mostly found small Walleye everywhere they went. The colder weather seemed to shut the bite down overnight deep and shallow. But with the warmer weather coming a little this weekend and again towards the end of next week, I’m hoping for a good finish out there. We still have three rentals left available for this weekend, so give us a call if interested.

Permanent customers need to settle their accounts before the end of next weekend as the houses will be coming off starting February 24th. Wheelhouses that want to stay later into March or store for the summer will need to be parked in two specific areas in our storage lot by February 23rd. Check with the office as to where before then. If they are not, we will move the wheels down or up. The storage area must be clear for the permanent houses coming off the lake.

Wheelhouses are coming this weekend; if they are off-roading and don’t want a plowed spot, they should have a set of chains. With the possible snow coming Friday/Friday night along with the snow we already have out there might come in handy.  Call to get on the weekend wheelhouse list so we get an idea whos coming up.

Keep a Tight Line!
