Overnight we received another 3-6 inches of heavy wet snow on top of what we had the day before, which was about 6 inches. The warm temps today settled alot of it and I’m thinking on the ice there is a total of 7-9 inches.
Most of the day was spent cleaning up the area. Driveway, parking area in the field for customers, and cleaning out our landing in front on the ice. Tomorrow we’ll be clearing the storage lot and going out on the ice and deciding to either start plowing or not. the snow was so wet and heavy that it piled as you pushed it. If I started roads I would have banks so heavy they would crack and sink as soon as it turns cold. Right now I’m thinking about just packing them down while the snow is wet and wait until after it freezes and dries out before plowing. I’m going to make that decision tomorrow am.
We will be open for portable fishing this weekend. We have a large parking area for rigs and wheelhouses. The best choice for transportation will be snowmobile or ATV’s with tracks. With no roads I would not recommend ATV’s unless they are chained up. Itis probably going to flood where you drill so be prepared for that also. With the colder weather coming things will change pretty fast. And if we do not have any more measurable snow for awhile I think we will get thru this.
Be careful out there!
