Late last evening /early morning the Northern Lights were about the best I’ve seen in many years. it was quite a sight.
This morning it’s refroze out farther where it has opened up earlier. It’s getting just cold enough at night to make some ice on the main lake and then during the daylight hours the wind moves it around a little. The bays have walkable ice if you stay in them. Any venturing out beyond the mouth of them would be foolish. We will not be allowing and walk out traffic here. Maybe next weekend if the main lake locks up, but don’t count on it..
Compared to the history of “freeze-ups” that we’ve kept over the years this is about normal as far as the time of ice-over, but the temps we will see over the next week or so are not. So we’ll see how it turns out. If the main lake ice doesn’t get blown all over the place when it finally gets cold and we avoid the early snow we had last year we should be good…
Keep a Tight Line!
