December 23rd,2020

Yesterday  we checked ice and staked to the Graveyard Reef, Ray’s and East Spider and the Banana.  Most ice depth were 7″-9″ places as much as 10″ and found a couple areas of 6″.  So its getting there.  But with this storm/blizzard coming today and tomorrow it’s going to be anybody’s guess what it’s going to look like after it. On the brighter side one fisherman followed us out, fished in 25′ of water for the afternoon and C/R  15 Walleyes between 15″-20″.

If we get what is forecasted, we are in an area where we could receive 6’to 10″ of snow with 30 mph NW winds with gusts to 50 mph plus. It should blow most of the snow off the ice but it also could cause drifting much similar to what waves look like in the summer across the ice. That could create flooding in some areas with what ice we do have.  I guess we will just have to wait and see as there is nothing we can do about.

With the snow amounts I would say fishermen should switch from the ATV’s to the snowmobiles for the weekend if they plan on coming up. If we get what they forecast  ATV’s unless they have tracks are not going to work out there.  We’ll know more after Thursday when the wind drops. And I’ll keep you updated.

We will be closed today, tomorrow and see how it looks Christmas day and update the report so you know what’s up for the weekend.  I will be so glad when 2020 is over…maybe the New Year things will improve..   Hope all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Keep a Tight Line!    Eddy
