December 24th, 2019

Yesterday we had 12 groups of anglers out and the bite was definitely a little slower.  Walleyes and Perch were caught, but most Walleyes were under the slot and the bigger Perch were 9-10″ from what I heard.

I established a road out to the Graveyard Reef with the Jeep. The first 200 yards north from Gull the ice was pretty rough and snow was deep.  As I got farther out conditions improved.  Ice depths ranged from 9-11″, the top 4″ was slush ice and only the bottom 5-7″ was clear strong ice, so there is along way to go yet. With the temps and snow depths the only way we are going to get out is to have good ice to run on and the only way to do that is uncover it so the cold can get to it.

This year is going to be a tough one out there from what I’ve seen so far. As long as we don’t get much more snow  we will probably get out there when the weather turns cold again.  If we get a big snowstorm it’s anybody’s guess then.  It just might be one of the years like I remember too well 44 years ago…

We will be closed this afternoon and tomorrow morning for Christmas and reopen in the afternoon.  Hoping everyone has a Merry Christmas!!

Keep a Tight Line!       Eddy
