Merry Christmas! Yesterday after noon the winds started dropping and the ground drifting slowed out on the lake. Looking out on the main lake the snow drifts resembled white caps with the way it drifted. The wind did not blow hard enough to level things out. I cleared the landing from snow by late morning but held off on starting to reopen the roads I had established early last week. I will be doing that today.
I think what I see out there today will determine what we are going to do for the rest of the season. The weather warming up over this next week is going to slow what freezing is being done. On the bright side it could settle the snow and it will be nice to be out there, We can only hope for no more snow for a long while. The snow on the lake right now would not have been an issue if we had 15-20 inches of ice. But the main lake ice is far from that. With the amount of snow that is out there we could be a snow storm away from flooding out. We’ll be checking ice depths today and report more of that tomorrow.
We will reopen Monday morning for snowmobile/ATV’s with tracks/portable access only. I will not let any vehicle traffic out until I see what we have for ice depths and how the roads turn out.
Be Safe!
