Merry Christmas!
This afternoons view, (click on it to enlarge). Some of the ice moved back in between Hennepin island and the Graveyard Reef. To the SW there is a very large areas of open water as far as my camera could see, NW of Spider Island and out. The 2″ of rain really took down the rough ice and smoothed things out which is really good if it just freezes up and stays put. On the bright side with the ice we have, 2″ of rain was better than getting 20″-24″ of snow. If that would have happened the existing ice in the bays and what we have out in front of us would have slushed out and probably stayed that way for the majority of the season.
What winds we are to get are supposed to be ENE then eventually turning south so we just might dodge the big ice sheet out there that could have went our way and made for some rough areas farther out. Maybe good things will come to those that have to wait.
