The bite overnite for those that were out there was fair. Best report I heard was one house C/R 10 Walleye of different sizes. Seen two caught in the slot and four around 25″ today. Not much for Perch or Northern.
I’m continuing to make roads and uncovering ice so the cold will get to it and freeze. Right know the only decent ice we have is on the roads. Out under the snow ice depths range from 10″to 12″ and that is it. Some places where the ice is rough it is a little thicker. Unfortunately we received enough snow over the last couple weeks to slow the freezing process. In talking to the Creel census clerk today, he is hearing of the same conditions lake wide. What a lot of people don’t realize is that when the ice first forms over the lake, the water just below the ice is still warm. It takes awhile for the ice to get “cold” enough to cool the water immediately below so it starts to freeze. When you get snow cover right away after it freezes it slows the whole process down. That is why I’m plowing roads and spots for houses…
We will stay as we are for the weekend. NO 1/2 ton rated or larger vehicles. small cars, small SUV’s , etc. ATV’s pulling wheelhouses only. No heavy houses will be pulled until next week.
Keep a Tight Line! Eddy
