Yesterday morning we had ice out as far as you could see from the previous night’s temps in single digits. By yesterday afternoon the south winds had blown alot of it out to the north NW.
This morning there is ice out about 200 yards, and open water from there. Needless to say we will not be doing anything out of here this weekend. With the strong NW winds forecasted this afternoon and tonight a lot of things will change the scenery out there. Existing ice becomes unstable when you get 30-50 mph gusts.
By Tuesday of next week the cold is going to hit and stay from weather predictions. By the following weekend we should be starting to get going. I already have the road approach done thru the piles of slush ice and will start “grinding” the rough ice and establishing roads as soon as I get enough thickness to run on.
We’ll see how it goes….
