Overnight we received an little snow. Unfortunately, just enough to hide what is good and bad ice out there as far as thickness is concerned.  This next week if the ice in our corner of the lake  stays in one place is when the chances of someone falling thru with an ATV or snowmobile increase dramatically.  With just enough snow cover to hide the ice for many they will think it’s the same thickness as the last place they checked.  This year with all the shifting ice and refreezing there is no consistency on the main lake ice.  Unfortunately someone will probably find that out the hard way. Try not to be that someone…

After all the incidents on Upper Red this past week I seen a first in my lifetime in the ice business yesterday.  A Sheriff’s Department up there shut down motorized traffic on the lake until it “locks up” and quits moving. That’s what happens when fishermen push it.

Be very careful and have a Safe and Happy New year!
