December 6th, 2022

Yesterday I went for the first walk checking ice to about 3/4 mile out in front of us. The first hundred yards had 8″of ice.  From there on it averaged  between 5″- 6″.  There are some ridges beyond the 3/4 mile mark where the ice pushed in with Friday’s winds that will have to be checked out.  In those areas there was spots of open water Saturday and Sunday so the ice will have varied thicknesses and it’s needs a couple more days of cold weather before I’m going to check it.  It’s not worth pushing it.

We are going to check more areas today and start staking where some of the roads will eventually be to our in close fishing areas for this weekend.  (Gull, Popes, SW of Spider island).  Depending on what see farther out later in the week for ice depths we might stake roads farther, but for now we are starting close.  The ice froze windy this year and is pretty rough in most areas. Until I get some trails for anglers to get out there whether by walking or ATV is will be hard to walk on and bumpy.

We will open Friday for ATV’s, (NO side by sides yet), and walking traffic with portables.  Snowmobiles are not going to do well until we get some more snow. ATV parking will be along the driveway in along the field, Walkers will be able to park up by the Red House like in the past. Our newly restored Barn will be the new office so you will need to stop there to check in.

Here we go again….
