December 6th, 2023

Today things out on the ice didn’t look too much different, actually at the end of the day there was more open water than I’ve seen earlier in the week. tomorrow the SE winds are going to to get stronger and I would be surprised if some of the established ice that has stayed over the week might move NW also.  Gull Reef and Spider Island will hold what ice we have in front of us, but to the east south east, I could see some of it go away as there is nothing to hold it with the wind direction.  All it takes is one small crack..

The weather forecast is showing colder weather and NW winds for Saturday and more seasonable temps next week.  If the main lake will close up so i know it’s not going to move we might be open for walking, and maybe ATV’s and snowmobiles the weekend of the 16th.  But I won’t know for sure until later in the week next week after we check things out.  It will show up here on the report if we do.

After  the aftermath of the tragedy that happened at Red Lake on unstable/moving ice ice a few years ago, I choose to refrain.

Keep a Tight Line!
