Yesterday we checked more ice and marked spots where i will be making the first roads. ice depths varied from 6- 8 inches, The farther out the less it was. We stopped when it was getting less than 6″. Where we make roads to areas will be no less than 7″ today.
Yesterday we had our first angler walk out in late afternoon and fish until after dark. He caught some Walleyes but all were small and under the slot, Some as small as 8″ along with many Perch that size also. He commented that the walk out and back was pretty tough in the rough uneven ice. But we will have good trails established by the weekend for anglers
Yesterday I picked up our two V- plows, one new one and the other rebuilt and used as a pattern. With two more trucks to be added this winter the extra will be nice to have just in case..
The office will be open starting this Friday. ATV fishermen with portables will be parking along our driveway in the field. anglers walking will be parking close to the lake. Everyone will be checking in at the new office in the “Barn” I’m hoping to pick-up all the new signage for the office/parking/etc. in Brainerd on Friday so it will make the change of locations easier.
Be careful out there!\
