Fishermen coming in this morning reported pretty decent fishing. The gravel bar activity was ok but showed some signs of slowing down. Perch and Walleye activity is improving on the shallow reefs and basin areas. They are not “jumping out of the holes” by any means, but they are well worth the effort for sure. It’s that time of year.
Last weekend, we hosted the Cowden family from the Ogilvie area for a day at one of our rentals; they have been customers for over thirty years. This year, they had four generations for the day. They had a fun day fishing together, many memories were made, and they caught fish. It was an honor to host them.
We have some rentals still available for this coming weekend and have a Valentines/Presidents Day special going. All Deluxe houses get an extra 24 hours stay at the regular weekend rate rates, (Friday-Monday). And a 24 hr. stay in a Basic house have a 20% discount this weekend also. Call the office 320-676-8740 for more information. With the warmer weather approaching for the weekend it will be a good time to be out there. Ice conditions will remain good.. The pressure ridge has just about pushed as far as it can, so travel across it should be acceptable for the weekend. I recommend ice cleats as with the warmer weather the smooth ice is getting very slippery.
Permanents that are not planning to come up after this weekend should plan on getting their house ready to get pulled during the coming week. Weather forecasts point to rain or snow by the end of next week, with heavy snow on the Monday after the season closes. I want to get as many in the lot as we can before then, if we can. The same goes for the seasonal wheelhouse customers; you might want to consider getting them out of the storage lot or re-arranging where they are parked, as we will be starting to fill the storage lot. Contact the office for that info. 320-676-8740.
