Yesterday the bite was ok considering the cold and high barometer. And the better areas were shallow, especially overnight. So it will be interesting to see the results Sunday when fishermen check in on their way off the ice.
This weekend will be the coldest of the ice season Wheelhouse owners should take extra precaution and have back-up LP cylinders, or a way to keep them somewhat warm when they are hooked up outside. (NEVER bring them in the house!) With most furnaces in wheelhouses in the 30 to 40 thousand BTU range, when it gets this cold sometimes the LP won’t vaporize fast enough and you have a loss of heat. Just and FYI.
With this cold the ice roads are showing the effects of it as traffic runs over them. This is definitely the time to take it easy and slow.
Keep a Tight Line! and stay warm… Eddy
