Halfway through the long weekend, the bite has been ok for some, slow for others. Deeper water was active with small Walleye, but the “keepers” that were few and far between were caught in the shallows in the evenings. During the day, the Northern Pike were roaming the shallow reefs, and numerous reports of “linebreakers” were coming in at the office. One customer C/R a 40″ at 10:30 pm Friday, which is rare to see. Smallmouth Bass were being C/R out on some of the deeper reefs also. Two fishermen reported seeing big Muskies on the camera on the Spider Reefs. A couple of pictures that were sent in:
The weather forecast for this week’s “storm” is still uncertain, with the possibility of rain, snow, or both. Permanents that were not coming up next week are coming off today and tomorrow. I will be moving seasonal wheelhouses temporarily stored in our lot today and tomorrow to make room for permanents coming off. Those coming in and planning to leave them until next weekend must check in at the office before parking them.
Ice conditions are still good, with the only melting out there on the south side of the house when the sun hits it. Access is good, as it is shaded for over half the day. By midweek, temps will be more seasonable.
