Mille Lacs Ice Fishing Report – Conditions & Updates

February 16th 2026

The bite continues to be mixed with a lot of small Walleye in the deeper water and some “keepers” in the 12-16′ depths on reefs in close. Perch activity is picking up in the basins and nicer-sized, with more and more showing up in the 10″ plus range. There are still many smalls, but you can pick through and get five. Northern pike action is picking up, also.  Below are a couple of pics sent in today.

The weather remains warm during the day but still somewhat freezing at night. Rain showers turning to snow Tuesday through Wednesday, with cooler temperatures for the weekend, are forecasted.  We are pulling permanents who will be unable to make it up the rest of the season to get ahead while it’s good going. Over the years, in late February and early March, we often received significant snowstorms that created more work than it was worth for the end of the season.  Before 2007, the Walleye season closed on the Sunday closest to the 15th of February, and often, if you got the houses off during that time, the snows were avoided.
