Overnight we received maybe 6″-8″ of snow . The winds are 20-30 mph from the north and it’s basically a whiteout on the lake at the moment with some major drifting going on. We are on the tail end of the snowfall and by late afternoon the winds are forecast to drop. So far it looks like we will be reopening for the weekend to some extent to salvage what is left of the season. Alot of fishermen don’t remember this, but the Walleye season used to end on February 15th for many years. Removal deadline was Feb 28th. There was a reason for that. Historically, the end of February thru March brought stronger snowstorms. Maybe it’s time to rethink that idea.
We will be contacting all the reserved rentals this morning and confirm their reservations for the weekend. If they still want to come up we will be pulling the houses needed out and setting them up tomorrow morning. We will only be pulling the “weekend” deluxe houses, no “basics” will be available.
We will be reopening the roads for wheelhouse customers, seasonal and weekenders, but you will need to call and get on the list so we can know how many spots we will need to open.
Be Safe!
