Well it’s over. The Walleye season ended February 23rd at midnight. Sunday and Monday were spent getting houses staged on the roads and pulled into the storage lot . By the end of today, all the houses will be in will off the ice.
The last Walleye weekend fishermen had mixed results. Mostly small Perch and Walleye.Friday late afternoon/early evening and again on Saturday late day bigger Walleyes were C/R. Quite a few pictures were sent in the 22″ and larger Walleye, with the biggest, sent a 27″ Sunday a C/R a 35″ plus Northern. Some of the biggest Perch (11″-13″) range were caught in 10-14″ of water on the rocks. The deeper mud areas out in front of us held mostly small Perch. Time will tell if the big Perch will move in.
I plan on staying open through this weekend for portable and wheelhouse access. After that, we will see what the ice conditions look like, especially how the road approach is doing. With the above average temps predicted for the next 8-14 days, we will go day by day. Keep watching the report, as I will start posting daily again for a while. Be prepared for a lot of water on the ice over the next few days!
Keep a Tight Line!
