Yesterday at 6:30 pm the last houses came off the lake and went into the storage lot. What a good feeling it was. The season was definitely one of the tougher ones especially with the snow we received in February. Years ago the Walleye season closed on February 15th and houses had to be off the lake by the end of the month, primarily because the heavier snows came in February/March. This year would have been a good one to go back to the old rules I’m thinking….. 🙂
Anyways overall it was a good year out there. The Walleye cooperated with most anglers, some lifetime memories for some with their first Walleye, or biggest. Lots and lots of pictures were sent to my cell phone with nice sized Walleye and smiling faces so it was worth it. There was alot of new wheelhouse owners that had some learning experiences on how to park their rig out there when the NW wind was coming, or setting up near heavy snow drifts and flooding themselves out, little things that they will probably not let happen again.
I will be reopening the roads Friday afternoon to the “Tullibee Hole” and to Northern Pike areas for weekend anglers. I will be plowing spots for wheelhouses for those that want, otherwise it will be portable only. I will keep the roads open as long as it is possible or worth it.
Keep a Tight Line! Eddy
