Mille Lacs Ice Fishing Report – Conditions & Updates

February 2nd, 2026

As temperatures rose over the weekend, the ice warmed, expanded, and shifted several times, and will likely continue to do so until temperatures stabilize.  Over the next couple of days, it should stabilize somewhat until the next warm-up. Almost everyone out on the lake Saturday night felt the shift a couple of times.  With little or no snow cover, temperature changes can really affect the ice out there.

Fishing was good for some, slow for others, with many smalls almost everywhere. Most of the slots and larger Walleye were caught in the reefs closer to shore. The key was quiet and low light in the shallow water. Fishermen with live scopes, commenting as they left the lake on Sunday, said some felt the noise from the ice Saturday afternoon, as the sun hit it, caused the fish to go tight to the bottom. Also, because there was no snow, Wheelhouses from neighboring resorts were entering areas where our customers fish, creating excessive noise that didn’t help anyone trying to be quiet out there either. Below are a few pictures from the weekend.
