Mille Lacs Ice Fishing Report – Conditions & Updates

February 5th, 2026

Today, the warmup moved the ice on the ridge quite a bit; the main lake ice moved our way, it seemed today, and the pressure ridge we are dealing with moved twice, and it showed. But by later in the day, we got it taken care of. With the ice as thick as it is (27″ plus), we decided to knock it down and not take out the big bridge. With the cooldown starting tomorrow and lasting through Sunday morning, I think the ice will settle and not move again until Sunday afternoon or Monday. Next week, when it warms again, it will be a toss-up.   See pictures below.

I moved most of our big rentals inside the ridge during the week, knowing this was coming. I wanted all not to have to worry about the ice.

The bite has actually been doing pretty well on the shallower reefs, with a lot of bigger slots being C/R. The deeper water and gravel have been good as well, but there are more small under slots.

After this warm spell, the next week, the ice should settle down, and we can finish the season normally. But these days… who knows..
