The bite was pretty good over the weekend for some anglers and slow for others. Friday overnight was the best reported action when the front went thru and the barometer changed. I received many nice pictures of C/R Walleye and some in the slot also. Saturday evening those fishing shallow did pretty good in some spots. Sunday morning numerous anglers reported catching Walleye as they were packing up. This time of year the shallow water sometimes is the place to be overnight.
Yesterday afternoon I spent time out in the gravel opening roads to the west side of the East Bar, (dogbone) and SE end of the gravel we normally go to. This year because of ice and snow depth conditions early we didn’t get out there. We had a hard enough time just establishing what we did on thin ice. Hopefully the effort to get out there will pay off the last few weeks.
This weekend we had many portable fishermen out with the weather. Some respected other’s “space” and found their own spot away from others, however some ignored our requests to keep distance from houses and plowed spots with snow piled on one end of it. They drilled and set-up portables and flooded the spot, and wrecked it for all. Some even parked their vehicles right next to other houses making it difficult for the owner to get to their house. It’s unfortunate that some fishermen are that way. It’s too bad that with all the companies these days selling fishing gear and clothing, portables, wheelhouses, locators and tackle that they don’t spend time promoting fishing etiquette more. They all seem eager to sell their stuff and get them out there!
Keep a Tight Line!
