Yesterday we had 10 groups of anglers out with portables,. Reports varies from a only a couple to as many as 16 Walleye per group. Most were under the slot and seen a couple pictures of 25″ plus. Some Perch were report caught also. But mostly too small to keep.
I rechecked areas of slush and some did make some progress in freezing and some areas in closer have a ways to go yet before we can go over the top of it. Areas where I had packed before the rain were in really good shape. The snow needs to stay away and we need colder weather than what we are getting. The weather forecast is for colder temps coming on Monday.
Overall ice depths are increasing, but that is due to the slush freezing on the top. Just below the ice the water temp is too warm to get it going yet. Plus, it is not very strong ice when it comes to driving and pulling.
For this weekend we will remain ATV’s, snowmobiles and portables. As always there is plenty of parking for trailer rigs and wheelhouse campers for those that want to stay over.
Keep a Tight Line!! Eddy
