Mille Lacs Ice Fishing Report – Conditions & Updates

January 13th, 2026

Since Sunday, the bite has been pretty slow with the warmer weather over the last couple of days. Both deep and shallow. Not sure what it is with the warmer weather (steady low barometer?), but it seems to happen quite often. This afternoon, with the wind change and cool down approaching, many reported activity from 3:00 pm until dark. (barometer rising?).

We’ve been moving more rentals and working to get set up for this coming weekend. With colder weather coming, some are going deep, and a few are being placed on shallower night spots where there are a lot of Perch. This year so far, where we have found small Perch in the day around the shallower reefs, we’ve found larger Walleye at night. Unlike some deep areas on the Gravel, where “smalls” seem to dominate the catch.

Sounds like we will get 1-3 inches of snow and some NW winds, so the landscape will change out there. The last couple of days of almost 40-degree temps melted much of the existing snow. So a little more fresh snow will help with banking houses.

Along with the warmer temps, our pressure ridge that we are crossing moved a couple of times over the last 24 hours, but we readjusted things, and by the weekend, with the cold weather coming, we should be allowing trucks with wheelhouses across it, but that will be determined on a day by day basis. Those wanting to come up should call for info, which will change daily, and get on our list if you want to come out of here. We are not like other resorts in that aspect. We limit the number of wheelhouses and size to protect the roads and give everyone “their” space.  Ice depths range from 17-20″ depending on the area.

Not going to sugarcoat it. You’ll have to work for them, but that’s fishing.
