Tuesday-Wednesday, the better bite was from 3:00 pm until after dark, according to most who reported. Walleye from 12″-14″ were the bulk of the catches. One angler was up all Tuesday night, C/R Small Walleye, and ran out of bait. A few slots and larger Walleye were reported. A few Anglers had some pretty good fishing this afternoon with “keeper” Perch in the gravel basin between Gull- Spider and Graveyard Reefs.
Most everything froze up overnight Tuesday after the last two warm days. Light snow is forecast for Thursday – Friday, with NW winds, so visibility could be impacted. Over the weekend, it will be January again with temperatures close to or below zero. Ice depths are 18-20″. Crossing the pressure ridge will be day by day. As it gets colder, cracks will form along it. This morning, for example, there was a 16″ crack under the ramps that opened overnight. Wheelhouses, upon arrival, will need to check with the office, as it will be changing daily for a while as the cold sets in.
