With the weather change over the weekend so far there has been mixed reports from anglers from very good fishing to ok fishing to poor. Overall everyone was having action whether it was Perch, small Walleye or Northern Pike. It all depended on your location, depth and presentation. I received numerous pictures of some nice sized C\R Walleye, and “slot” Walleye were reported. From what fishermen have said when they are arriving is that the bait supply situation is not very good so I would suggest be prepared and call around before heading up just in case.
This warm weather is not helping the ice situation at all right now but actually will more than likely work to our benefit out there when it turns cold as long as we can stay away from more snow. The snow depths will settle some, more slush will appear the next couple days but with next weeks predicted colder weather we will turn the corner, and get the rest of our customers with the heavier houses on the ice hopefully for the few weeks we have left out there. This has been one of the latest thin ice years I’ve seen since the mid seventies and eighties. I know now one is happy it but it is the best we can do.
Traffic will be limited from here on out until we start getting colder to 1/2 ton vehicles or smaller only to houses. No more wheelhouses until the weather changes and it turns colder.
Be Safe!
