January 17th, 2023

Yesterday’s above freezing temps settled and softened the snow some out there. It also created larger areas of slush under the snow, Especially in areas where portable anglers were fishing.  Most of the road banks dropped the last couple days as we hoped they would so now we definitely need some colder weather to freeze things up.  At least from tomorrow on temps will  stay below freezing and after the weekend colder temps are on the way.

Fishing was quiet with mainly Perch and small Walleye activity during the day.  The best time was the dusk hours.  We had rentals out overnight and the barometer started rising about 3:00 am so I’m thinking this mornings bite will improve.

Every day we’ve been out plowing and clearing spots for permanent customers in hope to start getting more out over the weekend.  You will be notified when it gets out there, This year because of ice ridges that formed when the lake froze, flooded out areas, and slush under the ice. The “normal” way we spot houses is not going to happen for most of you.  In a few areas we are able to get to the “spot” for some, but there is a lot of “unfishable” ice this year that normally was someone’s “favorite spot”.  But we are still working at it.

This weekend we will be limiting vehicle traffic to 3/4 ton rated vehicles or smaller to rentals and permanents (No diesels).  1/2 ton trucks with single axle wheelhouses, (paid seasonal customers only) . There will be no daily wheelhouse access until my permanent customers are taking care of.  Portables are encourage to snowmobile or ATV to prevent parking on the roads.

Be Safe out there!
